"I need you to retrieve a document," Marcus says. "Physical copy, held in a private archive. Lindqvist's consultancy has a sub-basement in their Hellerup office — converted Cold War civil defence bunker. The Lindqvist memo original is there, along with a location manifest for the cache."

"You want me to break into a building in Hellerup."

"I want you to retrieve what is already yours, in a sense. You translated it. You have more right to it than he does."

"And the white van outside?"

"SVR surveillance. They are watching to see what you do. If you move toward Lindqvist, they will move too — they want the cache as much as anyone. You need to move tonight, before they reposition."

He gives you a dead drop location: a left-luggage locker at Copenhagen Central Station. Inside: a key card, a floor plan, and a burner phone with one number stored in it.

"The number is Lindqvist's personal line," Marcus says. "If things go wrong, call it. He is old and frightened and he does not want to die for this. He may deal."

You hang up and look at the white van.

It pulls away from the kerb.
