"You already know something," you say. "The way you said 'American' — you were not asking."
Ravn looks at you for a moment, then leans back. "There was a death three days ago. A retired civil servant named Holger Dahl. Drowned in the harbour at Langelinie. Initially ruled an accident." He pauses. "Holger Dahl spent thirty years in the Defence Intelligence Service. He was due to give testimony to a parliamentary committee next month regarding archived Cold War files."
He slides a photograph across the table. Holger Dahl, mid-seventies, grey overcoat, taken outside what looks like a government building.
"He came to us two weeks ago. Said someone had broken into his home. Said he had been photographed in his sleep."
The room is very quiet.
"We found nothing," Ravn says. "No evidence of entry. No suspects." He taps the USB drive. "Until now."
